Washing the filter
A dirty or damp filter is the main reason these vacuums lose suction or pulse. Dyson recommends washing it once a month, and more often if you vacuum a lot of fine dust or mostly use Eco mode.
- Twist the filter unit off the top of the machine.
- Rinse it under cold running water only. No detergent.
- Tap it gently to remove water and keep rinsing until the water runs clear.
- Leave it to dry for at least 24 hours somewhere with good airflow.
- Refit it only when it is fully dry.
Don't put the filter in a dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer or oven.
Pulsing on and off
When the motor surges on and off, the machine is detecting a blockage or a filter problem. Check the filter is fitted properly, empty the bin, and look through the wand and the cleaner head neck for anything stuck. The LCD often shows a blockage graphic to point you in the right direction.
Run time
Dyson quotes up to 60 minutes of run time in Eco mode with a non-motorized tool. Using Boost mode or the powered floor head reduces this a lot, which is normal.

The serial number sticker is behind the clear bin on the main body. Dyson support asks for the serial number, which identifies the exact model and date.

Why won't my Dyson V11 charge?
Check the charger light and the dock connection. Try a different outlet and make sure the machine is at room temperature. Batteries won't charge when very hot or cold.
Can I buy a replacement battery?
Yes. The V11 battery is replaceable and sold by Dyson. Match the battery to your model using the serial number.
