Reset the Echo Dot 5th Gen
Try unplugging it for a minute first. If it still won't respond or you're giving it away, do a factory reset.
- Press and hold the Action button (the one with a dot) for about 20 seconds.
- The light ring turns orange, then goes off.
- Wait for the light ring to turn on again. It shows orange when it is ready for setup.
- Open the Alexa app to set it up again.
What the light ring colors mean
Orange spinning: in setup mode or trying to connect. Blue with a cyan section: Alexa is listening. Red: the microphone is off. Pulsing yellow: a notification or reminder is waiting. Green: incoming call or Drop In. Purple flash: Do Not Disturb is on.
