01 Quick answers
Start in Safe Mode
Safe Mode gives you recovery options without the normal system loading.
- Turn the console off completely. The power light should be off, not orange.
- Press and hold the power button.
- Release it after the second beep, about seven seconds later.
- Connect the controller with a USB cable and press the PS button.
- Choose an option. Try Restart PS5 and Clear Cache and Rebuild Database before any reset.
Best HDMI and ventilation setup
Use the HDMI cable that came with the console for 4K at 120Hz on supported TVs. Give the console space on all sides and don't put it in a closed cabinet. The PS5 pulls air in at the front and exhausts at the back.
02 Finding the model number
The model number starts with CFI and is on the label on the back or bottom of the console. It's also listed in Settings, System, System Software, Console Information.

06 Owner questions
What does a blinking blue light mean?
It can mean the console is struggling to boot or output video. Try Safe Mode and Change Video Output, and a different HDMI port on the TV.
Can I add more storage?
Yes. The PS5 accepts a compatible M.2 NVMe SSD in its expansion slot and USB drives for storing games.
