Where Apple puts the model number
| Product type | Where to look |
|---|---|
| Phones & Tablets | The model is in Settings under About. Some phones also print a model number on the SIM tray or back cover. |
| Computers, Printers & Office | Printers usually have the label inside the front access door or on the back. Laptops have it on the underside. Monitors put it on the back panel near the stand. |
| Headphones & Speakers | Earbuds print a small model code inside the charging case lid or on the stem. Headphones use the inside of the headband. |
| Watches & Fitness Trackers | The model is in the watch settings under About or System. The back case also has fine print with the model code. |
Getting the official Apple manual
Apple publishes product documentation on support.apple.com. Search there with the full model number from the label, then look for a documents, manuals or downloads section on the product page.
If your model isn't listed, try removing the last few characters, which usually only indicate color or region. For discontinued models, look for an archive or legacy products section, or contact Apple support directly.
